What is AMCHE

AMECHE (ኣምቸ) is a name givem to Eritreans or Ethiopians of Eritrean origin who were deported from Ethiopia during the 1998-2000 Ethio-Eritrea border conflict. Name is derivative of old truks tucks which are said at the time, to have been imported to Ethiopia from Asian countries, and assembled in Addis Ababa, this correlates with the even whereby thousands of Eritreans we being expelled from various parts of Ethiopia and being "assembled" (so to speak) in Eritrea.

More often, the term is also loosely associated with Ethiopians who are of Eritrean but not have been deported not immigrated to Eritrea.
