1852 | Werner Munzinger was from Olten, Switzerland, the son of a Federal councilor: Josef Munzinger. He was in Cairo for a study, and at this time Cairo (Egypt was under Turkish control.) Munzinger who was financed by his father, was educated and could speak Arabic and Hebrew fluently. He accepts a mission from a company called <b>Dupont & Cie,</b> to investigate the markets around the Redsea region for possibilities of trade for rubber, cotton, pearls, mother-of-pearl, tortoiseshells, and also for rice, coffee and Pepper.
